Spring was in the air last week, and a perfect backdrop to keep one of West Noble's physical jewels in great shape.
The West Noble Memorial Garden, located serenely on the West Noble Middle School campus, needed some retouching heading into the warmer months. Sixth grade teacher Bailey Showalter used the nice May day to take sixth grade students out to the garden and spruce up the landscaping and beautify our memorial area. Students trimmed bushes, laid new mulch, pulled weeds, planted flowers and did general maintenance to the site, a vast contrast from the morning to afternoon sightlines.
The West Noble Memorial Garden was originally established in 2004 by the Class of 2010 in memory of their late sixth grade classmate, Lauren Shields. The garden has been taken care of through the years by students, staff and community members of West Noble.
What started as a short pathway through a small area of planted flowers has evolved into a large and peaceful garden paved with a winding walkway of donated bricks in memory or honor of staff, students, and community members. The garden includes benches, stones, a water feature, and a gazebo.
The Garden is a self-funding project and donations are accepted and appreciated. If you wish to contribute to the West Noble Memorial Garden please contact West Noble Middle School at (260) 894-3191.
